Item/Description: Japanese Satsuma moriage earthenware vase. Late Meiji, circa 1900. Ovoid earthenware body featuring intricate hand-painted figural scenes with male and female characters, immortals or deities. Elaborate gilt moriage detailing throughout. Features a prominent gilt Shimazu clan crest on the shoulder, a heavily gilded rolled rim, and intricate geometric borders.

Condition: Signs of age, use, and wear include surface rubbing, paint thinning, gilt wear, and some pitting.
